Toodyay is a fairly diverse rural community only 90km east of Perth. It no longer relies on agriculture as its sole industry and has positioned itself as a day tourist destination as well as supporting a large commuting population. However, recent bushfires and the understanding that proximity to Perth can be both a blessing and a hindrance in terms of capital leakage has encouraged members of its community to partner with Living Towns and run a pilot. This pilot project is in its planning stages also and like Lake Grace, the community is organising a committee to drive the project and is currently looking for funding.
